Make Your Own Sidewalk Chalk!

Make more than fantastic artwork on the sidewalk or driveway, make memories! Spend a few extra minutes with your little one whipping up a batch of colorful sidewalk chalk and I promise you they will remember those minutes forever.

Let your little one help you measure:

*1 cup plaster of Paris

*1 cup water

*powdered tempera paint. Tint it to your liking.

Mix it all together and then let it sit a bit (just a few minutes). Then pour it into your molds and let dry. The bigger the mold the longer it will take to dry. Small molds can take hours, larger molds can take up to a day. Once dry, remove the chalk from the mold. If it's still a bit moist, let it air dry for another day.

This is a great activity to do on a rainy day. You can pass the time making the chalk and then when the clouds part your little one has something to do outside!

I've always wondered what to do with the box of plaster of paris out in the garage. Thanks for the great idea.

Wow! This is great. Right now there is sidewalk chalk drawings all over my sidewalk where my kids have been playing the last couple days.

I didn't know I could make my own. I will have to try this, since they go through so much of this stuff so fast. Thanks!
